  • Lost Houses of the Clyde Valley
the following pictures of these beautiful houses are what we are try to prevent happen at Cambusnethan Priory.

This  page is intended for people to see old photographs and stories of the many magnificent lost houses of the Clyde Valley . In many cases the estates remain and it would be interesting to see what traces of the past are still visible. The main lost houses are Hamilton Palace (it was the largest in Scotland), Mauldslie Castle, Milton Lockhart (found in Japan!), Carfin and Stonebyres House but there are probably more that will soon disappear from history... for more information  please see

This photo comes from "Bygone Clyde Valley: The Orchard Country" by Kenneth Liddell and shows Stonebyres House.
