The Legend of the Lee Penny is about this amulet brought back from the crusades by Sir Simon Lockart. It was believed that the Lee Penny had healing powers that could cure all types of ailments and diseases. As a result, the amulet would be borrowed during times of epidemics in the hope it could cure cities, towns and even livestock by dipping it into the local water supply.
The Lee Penny is also said to be involved with Robert the Bruce. The Lee Penny is still in the possession of the Lockhart family, and is said to be kept within a Gold Snuffbox given by Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria to Count James Lockhart in 1789.
